To stay in shape over the summer break, many of the WJ Crew girls trained to run the Run 4 Shelter half marathon on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The strategy paid off September 12th when WJ varsity girls swept both the half marathon and the 10K in their age group.
Congratulations to Sophia Poersch, Beryl Hovis-Afflerbach and Tali Kirshenboim for winning first, second and third place in the half marathon and to Audrey Birgin, Greta Mann and Gillian Audia for taking first, second and third in the 10K! Setting a shining example, Coach Emma Green won the 10K in her own category. The race on Kent Island benefits the homeless in Queen Anne’s County. Way to go girls!
