WJ Crew participated in 10 races this spring season. Our team competed at regional regattas, East coast championship venues, and the SRAA (Cooper River, NJ) National and the Youth National championships (Sarasota, FL). Throughout the season, the boys’ and girls’ teams demonstrated and built up strong performances, from the Novice and Freshman boats through Junior and Senior boats, achieving new best times, and winning medals and trophies. Hats off to the commitment, perseverance, spirit, and grit that the rowers showed throughout the season – a season marked by long episodes of cold, wet, and often very windy weather conditions, not only at daily practice but also at many races. Despite adverse conditions and other obstacles, the team persevered and exceeded expectations.
A shoutout to the team captains for being role models and sources of inspiration to their crewmates and to the coxswains for bringing out the best in the teams while racing. As the rowers cannot do without their boats, the club cannot do without the many helping hands that contributed countless hours of hard work. Kudos to the many volunteers who made this regatta season possible. Special thanks and praise to the coaches who kept the team on course and led them to new heights. We row as one. Go WJ!
