Walter Johnson boats decisively proved their mettle at the SRAA National Championship Regatta last week as two WJ Crew boys’ boats advanced all the way to the grand finals! The Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey provided the backdrop for victories at “the Nationals”, the preeminent national rowing competition of the annual spring season. The girls’ Varsity 4+ and JV4+ boats also put in strong showings, both progressing to the semi-finals on the second day of rowing. The boys’ lightweight 4+ came in second in both heats and semi-finals, leading to a fifth-place finish overall, despite competing against elite teams from all over the USA. And our boys Junior 4+ took first and second place in the heats and semi-finals, in the run-up to an extremely strong showing in the Grand Finals. Their fifth-place time put them in contention with some of the fastest Junior fours in the country. Congratulations to all who participated!
