WJ Crew Club — the rowing team for Walter Johnson High School — offers Learn-to-Row programs in the spring (May/June), summer (August), and fall (September). Each session runs three to five days and is open to students who attend Walter Johnson High School or are current 7th or 8th graders at North Bethesda or Tilden Middle Schools.

Rowing sessions take place on the Anacostia River, launching from the Bladensburg Waterfront Park in Prince George’s County, Maryland — one of the most historic waterways in the nation.
WJ Crew competes at both local and national regattas, including the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia (the largest scholastic rowing event in the U.S.), the Scholastic National Championships, the Youth National Championships, and the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
Come discover rowing — the ultimate team sport — and get out on the water! The Learn-to-Row program introduces participants to the fundamentals of rowing and provides hands-on experience alongside WJ Crew’s coaches and athletes. It’s a great way to try out rowing, meet the team, and learn what makes our nationally recognized program so exceptional.
