The Walter Johnson Crew Club, a high school student rowing club in Bethesda Maryland
The team had a successful trip to Philadelphia and the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. We had a great weekend of racing, sending 8 boats to the oldest and largest high school regatta in the world.
WJ had two boats advance to semifinals (the Men's Senior 4+ and Women's Junior 8+). The Women's Junior 8+ had a tough draw in their semifinal and came in 4th. The Men's Senior 4+ placed second in their semifinal, advancing to the Grand Final where they came in 6th. They were the fastest area boat in the event. The rest of our crews put in great efforts, with the Men's Junior 8+ placing 19th (one second from advancing).
Thanks also go to Jill Hicks and Christie Gibbons for all their work in travel coordination and keeping the team fed at the food tent, Annie Rose for serving as the boat/hotel coordinator, Zohar Kirchenboim for serving as the bus/lead chaperone, Shep Smith for driving the chuck wagon and every parent who served as a chaperone, worked the food tent, or just came out to support the team.
