The Walter Johnson Crew Club, a high school student rowing club in Bethesda Maryland
WJ Crew had a phenomenal end to a great season. Three boats qualified to row, Girls JV8, Boys JV4 and Boys V4. All three boats made it into the semifinals. The girls boat, made up primarily of sophomores and a freshman, made a strong showing against some of the best JV 8 boats oared by juniors. Based on this year’s result, WJ girls will be a force in high school rowing in 2017 and beyond. Both boys boats advanced to the finals. For the second consecutive year, the Boys JV4 rowed a competitive race against five boats from private schools. The Boys V4 pulled out a tight race with their patented closing sprint to claim bronze, WJ’s first SRAA medal. It was great to see rowers supporting each other with their cheers from finish line. Well done WJ Crew and what a send off for our wonderful Coach Emma! Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches! done WJ Crew!
