Rowers and coaches relax after their victories
The WJ Boys team continued its winning ways last Sunday to cap off the year in sensational fashion. Our Junior Men’s 8+ and Lightweight 4+ took home Gold and Silver medals respectively, in the Nationals Schools’ (NSRA) Championship Regatta on the Occoquan River in Virginia. The lightweight four boat, having proven themselves to be one of the fastest in their class nationally despite their relative youth, dominated over the likes of Gonzaga and St. Joseph Prep to take home second place in their event. And our Junior eight boat, despite having rowed together for only a couple of weeks, walked away with WJ Crew’s first national championship Gold medal victory! It was truly an historic day.
