The Walter Johnson Crew Club, a high school student rowing club in Bethesda Maryland
Stotesbury Cup, one of the world’s largest high school regattas, is always a great event. WJ entered 7 boats, 3 boys boats and 4 girls boats, in a regatta with 985 entries from 189 clubs across the United States and Canada. Overall, WJ’s boats did well in their races. The Girls J8 made it into the semifinals despite having one of the youngest crews in the event. The Boys J4 repeated in the finals and the Boys S4 claimed a silver medal to pair with their JV4 bronze from last year. From a spectator point of view a highlight was overhearing someone complain that WJ Crew is “too loud” supporting their teammates. Well done team!
