Welcome to the 2025 Winter rowing season
The WJ Crew Team had an excellent 2025 fall season! Our team showed strong performances at regional regattas including the Head of the Annacostia with men’s and women’s junior 8 boats winning the event. WJ Crew also returned the first time after a 10-year hiatus to the Head of the Potomac regatta, racing strong in a very competitive field while enjoying the superb weather and novel venue. The women’s varsity 8th competed again at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston, the largest regatta event in the world drawing more then 11,000 athletes from all over the world to this event every year. The team concluded the regatta season at the Head of the Occoquan regatta in Virginia racing under blue skies and near-flat waters and with solid performances across all squads.
The growth that we see in our team’s performances is the result of many hours of hard work on the water, often in harsh weather conditions, under expert guidance and leadership of our experienced team of coaches and assistant coaches. Praise goes to our athletes, coxswains, team captains, and coaches for getting us there and thanks to all parents, volunteers, and donors who make this possible.
During the Winter season, WJ Crew Rowing offers a conditioning program, which meets Monday through Friday, and consists of a mix of gym workouts and erging. The Winter season is about building on the work done in the Fall, and preparing for the Spring sprint regatta season, which culminates in May, with our conference (WMIRA) championships, the Stotesbury Cup, and SRAA Scholastic Nationals, and the CSSRA Regatta, in June in Ontario, Canada (see tentative regatta schedule here).
We have put together a Season Information Package that shows all updates, activities, and rowing events for the upcoming season. This includes training schedules, regatta schedules, fund raising activities, and other topics. Please click here for all details. Many thanks!
